By  |

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. announced Eddie Gloria has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the organization which serves the ten-county area of Southwest Florida. Gloria comes to Catholic Charities with experience as a COO. He replaced Sharon Aragona who retired after 10 years of service to the agency.

Gloria will manage executive staff and oversee the fiscal and operational responsibilities of programs and services and housing developments. He  brings with him experience in operations and facilities management, budgets and finance, public affairs, construction administration, and grants administration and fundraising.

Formerly, Gloria was COO at Alpha-1 Foundation in Coral Gables, Florida and Camillus House, Inc. in Miami. He also served as Vice President of Strategy Management and Housing Development, Director of Strategy Management, and Senior Grants Manager at Camillus House. Prior to that, he worked for the City of Miami Office of the Mayor as a Contracts Compliance Manager. Gloria obtained a Master of Public Administration degree and Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Florida International University in Miami.

“The chance to combine my experience in the nonprofit world with my faith is exciting,” said Gloria. “Jesus call us to serve others with compassion. Catholic Charities is an agency of compassion.”

Priority for Gloria is to grow affordable housing programs and public funding sources. “If we can do those two things, we can advance our mission significantly ,” he said. “Where education is the great equalizer, housing is the great stabilizer. If you do not have to worry about your basic needs of housing and security, you can focus on your family and their well-being and live a positive and healthy life.”
