“Change of Watch” at Sarasota Yacht Club

January 4, 2021 – Sarasota

The Sarasota Yacht Club is setting sail on a new year and pleased to announce its board of directors. Known in nautical circles as the “Change of Watch,” the board elected Brian Will as Commodore, Tim Clarke as Vice Commodore and Harry Anand as Rear Commodore. The annual “Change of Watch” commemorates a tradition of the organization’s maritime heritage and marks the yacht club’s transition of leadership.

Commodore Brian Will joined the Sarasota Yacht Club in 2014 upon his arrival to the Suncoast. After ten years in the Air Force, Will was selected as a pilot for American Airlines and captained the Boeing 737 and Boeing 777. He also served as a management pilot and helped craft the modern airspace system used globally that transitioned from earth-based technologies to space/performance-based technologies. The safety, efficiency and environmental benefits from these procedures are still in use today.

“I am honored to have this opportunity to serve the members of the Sarasota Yacht Club,” said Commodore Will. “I couldn’t ask for a more talented group of professionals to work with and for than the one we have.”

Vice Commodore Tim Clarke, who has been a Club member since 1994, is the founding director and board chair of Gulfside Bank and founding director of Insignia Bank and Sarasota Bank. He also serves on the board of directors of Saga Communications and was the founder and president of Clarke Advertising & Public Relations.

“It’s a privilege to be part of Sarasota Yacht Club’s leadership team,” said Vice Commodore Clarke. “Our focus will be to ensure the Club continues its upward trajectory as it approaches its second century.”

Approaching his eighth year as a Club member, Rear Commodore Harry Anand is an entrepreneur and global business leader in industrial chemicals, having founded Royce International in 1995. Anand currently serves as director of business development for Royce Global. He also serves on the board of directors for the Gulf Coast CEO Forum.

“I look forward to engaging with my fellow board members in building on our strengths and exploring new avenues for our future success,” said Rear Commodore Anand. “We will continue to thrive and provide the best possible experience for our community.”
