The Child Protection Center (CPC)’s Sexual Abuse Treatment Program has once again received a 94/100 “Exceeds Quality Standards” on their recent Department of Health Clinical Monitoring. The program also received a 94 on their last evaluation and was the highest clinical monitoring score in the entire state of Florida.

“I am extremely proud of our therapy team for scoring a 94 out of 100 on the Quality Assurance Monitoring from the Department of Health (DOH),” said Doug Staley, CPC’s Executive Director. “This score means our staff exceeds the Quality Standards set by DOH and they are highly skilled in providing Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other interventions to our clients, which simply translates that our staff is skilled in helping children and families impacted by child abuse.”

For client interviews, 100% of clients reported improvements in coping because of services. Clients provided feedback, saying, “It was so huge for us that we felt embraced by [our therapist] even virtually, especially during COVID when we were cooped up, isolated, alone, feeling awful, and not being able to reach out to friends for support…This therapy is really incredible and really needed.” Additional feedback discussed drastic improvements with anxiety and PTSD, such as “[Client] is a lot less jumpy […] used to sleep with the light on and now has it off.”

CPC utilizes therapists who are specifically trained and qualified to provide trauma treatment within CPC’s therapy programs. At a minimum, therapists have earned a Master’s Degree in a mental health related field, have worked with children of sexual abuse, and receive specialized training in child abuse, sexual abuse, trauma, and other relevant topics. CPC only accepts reported cases of child abuse for services.

The Child Protection Center’s mission is the Prevention, Intervention, & Treatment of Child Abuse. CPC has been serving Sarasota & DeSoto Counties since 1980. In fiscal year 2020, The CPC provided 66,698 services to individuals. For more information on CPC, please visit CPCSarasota.org or call 941-365-1277.
