New Travel Company Launches in Sarasota

October 18, 2021 – Sarasota

Avontuur Travel International Inc., a new adventure and luxury travel agency, has launched with offices in downtown Sarasota and Naples. The company was founded by Michael Distler, a travel advisor with more than 15 years of experience serving clients in the luxury market while working within the esteemed Virtuoso network. In addition to designing personalized itineraries for individuals, families and companies, Avontuur will also cater to adrenaline junkies – from luxury safari drives to cage diving with great white sharks.

“I’m passionate about the opportunities we are developing for thrill-seekers and equally as excited to delight travelers who are ready to truly unwind and relax with a long-awaited and safe vacation to faraway five-star resorts,” says Distler who serves as Avontuur CEO. “No matter how daring or lavish your ideal travel experience may be, we’re ready to deliver each client’s idyllic ‘avontuur.’”

Avontuur is a noun defined as “a remarkable or exciting experience” in the Dutch-English dictionary and as “adventure” in Afrikaans. Distler started Avontuur Travel International so he could help clients imagine, design and enjoy whatever the concept of avontuur means to them.

“I understand what luxury travel – really all travel designed by the right advisor – is all about. What matters most is being able to fully enjoy each experience without stressing about any details or logistics. Avontuur adventurers won’t have to worry about a thing,” Distler explains. In addition to customizing itineraries, the boutique travel agency coordinates journeys led by specialized experts to every corner of the globe.

Avontuur’s first guided adventure will be hosted by world-renowned shark experts Chris and Monique Fallows, who have studied great white sharks in the southern cape of Africa for more than 20 years. Chris Fallows was the first to witness and photograph the apex predators’ breaching behavior. His work at Seal Island in South Africa was the genesis of the “Air Jaws” documentary series featured annually on the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week since 2001. Now Avontuur will allow travelers the opportunity to dive among the great whites of Guadalupe Island in the Pacific, southwest of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, with two sailings set for October 2022 aboard the Solmar V and Socorro Vortex. Reservations for the week-long expeditions begin at $5,250 per person.
