Sarasota Orchestra Receives Grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation
The Sarasota Youth Orchestra program received a $15,000 grant from the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation for student financial assistance. This grant will be used to provide scholarships for the Sarasota Youth Orchestra program. Scholarships are awarded for tuition, instrument rentals and private lessons.    

Gulf Coast Community Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant for Gator Engineering
Gulf Coast Community Foundation has awarded the State College of Florida Foundation $10,000 for Gator Engineering at SCF and its Gator Den at SCF Venice. The Gator Den is a dedicated space for engineering students to study, collaborate and seek the guidance of an SCF advisor as needed. Gator Engineering, a signature SCF Venice program, develops pathways for students to be admitted to the University of Florida’s (UF) Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering while starting their education at SCF.

Goodwill helping to restock library at St. Martha Catholic School
Over the summer, the library at St. Martha Catholic School was severely damaged by humidity and all but 150 of its books destroyed. The school is currently collecting books and fundraising to help restock the shelves. Goodwill Manasota is assisting in the effort, allowing school representatives to go through donated books and select appropriate titles. There has been one visit to Goodwill’s Logistics Center thus far and Goodwill has extended an ongoing invitation and school officials indicate they will be back. Celebrity Bartending Event at the Sarasota Yacht Club raises more than $30,000
The Sarasota Yacht Club, Women on Wednesday group dressed up in pink outfits and hosted a celebrity bartending fundraiser on Wednesday, October 18, raising more than $30,000 to benefit the Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation and the women’s breast cancer services at Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System. Sarasota Yacht Club members attending the event bid on live auction items, and celebrity gentlemen members of the Sarasota Yacht Club (SYC) dressed up as servers and bartenders and donated tips back for the cause.

The JFSM LIFE & LEGACY™ program raises $6 million in six months
One year ago, The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee (JFSM) launched a four-year partnership program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, managed by JFSM in this region. Through the program, lay leaders and staff from a cross-section of synagogues, social service agencies, and day schools are receiving training, support and monetary incentives to start conversations, secure legacy gifts, steward donors and integrate legacy giving into the philanthropic culture of the Jewish community. Woman’s Exchange Awards Grant to Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County’s InspireSarasota!
The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County has received a $20,000 grant from the Woman’s Exchange to support the 2017 InspireSarasota!, a 12-day long celebration of arts and culture held from October 23 – November 4, 2017. 

Community Foundation of Sarasota County to grant Theatre Odyssey $1,500 for award scholarships for the Best Play and runner-up play authors at the 2018 Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival from the Dorothy B. Templeton Fund. The Best Play author will receive $1,000 and the runner-up will receive $500. Theatre Odyssey’s Sixth Annual Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival will be presented at the Jane B. Cook Theatre (FSU/Asolo Center for the Performing Arts) on February 3 and 4.
