Local firm Fawley Bryant Architecture (FBA) announced their role and involvement in the groundbreaking of the new Atlanta Braves Spring Training Stadium in North Port. Hired by the Braves as the Architect of Record, in partnership with Pendulum Studios out of Kansas City, MO, FBA is responsible for the overall planning, design and construction administration of the new 80-acre complex. Expected to be complete for the 2019 Spring Training season, this project will employ many local organizations. For more information visit www.fawley-bryant.com.



On Wednesday, October 11th, Hall of Fame ESPN Sports Anchor Dick Vitale and his wife Lorraine visited the children at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Specialty Care facility off of Clark Road and Rand in Sarasota to take part in the Mercedes-Benz Drive Pink event to raise awareness for breast cancer. Vitale passed out gifts to young patients and posed for photos with parents and children as he passed out the pink bags filled with presents.

Vitale will be hosting his annual Gala on May 11, 2018 to raise money for the V Foundation benefiting pediatric cancer research. For more information or to donate, visit DickVitaleGala.org or DickVitaleOnline.com.


The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the Manatee County Clerk’s office with two Certificates of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting as well as the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award for the County’s annual reporting for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2016.


Richard O’Brien’s wildly popular cult classic, The Rocky Horror Show, will be performed live on Venice Theatre‘s MainStage for a limited five-show run in late October. Performances will take place on Friday Oct. 27, Saturday Oct. 28, and Tuesday Oct. 31, 2017. There are 8 p.m. and midnight shows on Friday and Saturday. The Halloween performance is at 8 p.m. All seats are $25. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.venicestage.com or by calling the box office at 941-488-1115. The show is not recommended for anyone under the age of 17 due to strong language and sexual content.
