The Venice Symphony’s Virtual Concert Season Will be Free to All

The Venice Symphony will present a series of four free virtual concerts beginning in November 2020. These 30-minute concerts will be led by Music Director/Conductor Troy Quinn and feature socially-distanced musicians performing classical and contemporary works recorded at the Symphony’s home venue, the Venice Performing Arts Center.

Each concert will have a premiere date and then be available on demand on The Venice Symphony’s YouTube Channel and website. Free one-time registration will be required to watch the concerts. All subscribers to The Venice Symphony’s email newsletter will receive a link to register in early November. Registration is also available at thevenicesymphony.org.

The first concert, Strings Unhinged, is scheduled to premiere on November 20, which would have been the live premiere of The Venice Symphony’s 2020-21 season. The program will feature music from West Side Story, Jay Ungar’s haunting “Ashokan Farewell,” Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown” from Rodeo and more. This concert will also be The Venice Symphony debut of Associate Concertmaster Ross Monroe Winter. On December 18, watch for Safe at Home for the Holidays, mixing traditional holiday music, classic carols and a reading of “The Night Before Christmas” by guest artist Jamal Sarikoki, accompanied by The Venice Symphony Orchestra Percussion Ensemble.

“These virtual concerts are an opportunity to get up close and personal to the music and to the musicians,” said Quinn. “The works that we are playing are fun and intimate, we can take off our ties and cut loose a little bit. It also provides an opportunity for the musicians to be showcased and illustrate the virtuosity of their playing in a concert that will last forever.”

The final two concerts will premiere in early 2021 and feature TVS musicians in duets, quartets and ensembles, performing a variety of compositions, from the opulent works of Giovanni Gabrieli to music from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The concert season is sponsored by Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The Venice Symphony previously announced it would postpone its 2020-21 live performance season at the Venice Performing Arts Center, to 2021-22.

The Venice Symphony rescheduled Songs from the Stage and Screen with Linda Eder from March 2020 to May 1-2, 2021, at the Venice Performing Arts Center and will present its second annual Patriotic Pops concert at CoolToday Park on May 29, 2021.
