Description

– ArtCenter Manatee will serve as the exclusive Florida host for the American Watercolor Society 142nd Annual Traveling Exhibition January 15 – February 28, 2010.  This prestigious exhibition will offer guests the opportunity to celebrate some of the best watercolor paintings in the world.

The AWS Traveling Exhibition brings some of the biggest and most talented artists in water soluble media, from across the globe, together in one show. The original juried exhibition, hung in March 2009 at the Salmagundi Club in NYC contained over 100 entries, 40 of which have been chosen for the traveling show and more than half of the featured pieces in the traveling exhibit are award winners.

As an additional accompaniment to the AWS show, the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society will present works by their members in the Searle and Reid Hodges Galleries. FSWS is comprised of artists from 7 gulf coast counties representing some of the best watercolor talent in the south.

There is an Opening Reception for both exhibits on January 15 from 5-7pm.  Reception admission is $10 for the general public and is free-of-charge for ArtCenter Manatee and Florida Suncoast Watercolor society members.  ArtCenter Manatee is requesting a $5 donation during run of the exhibition to help continue support for the presentation of nationally recognized award winning artwork in Bradenton.

Watercolor workshops will be hosted at ArtCenter Manatee to compliment the watercolor exhibition and will feature nationally known instructors Jean Grastorf, Teresa Kirk, Joe Fettingis and Donna Zagotta.
