CHARLES & MARGERY BARANCIK FOUNDATION AWARDS $4.3 MILLION
Investments in Environment, Aspiring Scholars and Cancer Patients to Strengthen Community

Recent funding from Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation continues its focus on environmental stewardship, student success, social wellness and unity through the arts.

Environmental Stewardship: “Powered by Barancik Foundation”
A $2 million grant to “Power” Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ sustainability and greening focused master plan. A centerpiece of the master plan is the environmental aspects of the Sky Garden, with virtually every inch incorporating sustainability education and clean energy “Powered by Barancik Foundation.” The Sky Garden includes a 20,000 square-foot advanced solar array structure; storm water management facility for irrigation and other reuses; green walls and roofs to instill beauty and create shade; and an urban food garden for
garden-to-table use by the restaurant.

“Everything about the Sky Garden is impressive, but we are most excited about the Sustainability Demonstration Program being developed.” said Teri A Hansen, President and CEO of Barancik Foundation. “Many of the lessons being created for school children and college students will also be fascinating to the thousands who visit the Gardens annually.”

Student Success: Barancik Masterpiece Scholar
A $1 million gift to establish a Barancik Masterpiece Scholarship at Ringling College of Art & Design will guarantee full tuition through graduation for one student every four years. The scholarship endowment will support outstanding students with talent and drive who lack the financial resources to make their dreams a reality.

A two-year, $680,540 grant to the healthcare foundation will support patient navigators who will guide patients through the complex continuum of cancer care and road to recovery.
